Sheppard Ranch Field Trip

It was a great day to be out at the Sheppard Ranch!  The students arrived via school bus and then were tractor-ed up the mountain to the Sheppard Ranch.

The kids were able to meet the piglets that were born the night before.  We learned all about the Idaho Pasture Pigs that are raised on the ranch.

The local shearer came out and sheared all of the Finnsheep that live on the ranch.

Finally, the field trippers learned about spinning wool – beginning with a carder, learning about different types of spinning wheels, and then finishing with talking about natural dyeing with things in your kitchen.
